The Ramakrishna Mission Blind Boys’ Academy may soon throw its doors open for candidates from categories other than the visually-handicapped. A special clinic for the low-vision disabled is also in the wings. Sunilbaran Pattanayak, academy principal, told Newsline that since its inception in 1957, the academy has been offering its services only to the blind. Considering the requirements of the day, however, the academy is now getting ready for starting training programmes for handicapped in the other categories as well.
